MAKES ME WONDER…

June 18, 2007

The new video of Maroon 5, Makes Me Wonder, takes place in a “fantasy airport”. The intention of the video’s creator was to place an atmosphere of glamour and luxury, terms that once were synanomous with airports, airlines and civil aviation in general. Of course, the airport is full of beautiful women in mini skirts, hand searching the tuxido dressed passengers.

I almost fell for the fantasy when I watched Adam Levin, the lead singer, take off his shoes and put them in the screener. The fantasy exploded. If even in a perfect imaginary airport one must take off his shoes for screening, we’re doomed.

787 UPDATE

June 16, 2007

Not surprisingly, the 2007 Paris Air Show, which will be held next week, is an oppurtunity for yet more announcments on 787 deals. This time, according to this article from AirportBusiness.com, the projected deal is a huge one: 50 planes are going to be ordered from International Lease Finance Corp. (ILFC), the biggest airplane leasing company in the world, headed by the legendary Stephen Udvar-Hazy.

Boeing’s biggest problem these days, and in the years to come, is its capacity to deliver the cascading flow of orders for the 787. Let’s hope it remains their biggest problem (just look over to Airbus and their problems…)
